Hace un año y medio mi amigo PdJ y yo viajamos a Cuba y como buenos 'turistas' estuvimos en busca de souvenirs originales. Se nos metió entre ceja y ceja encontrar esta camiseta de béisbol de Los Barbudos, pero no tuvimos éxito.

letras de tela tan retro!

Since then I have been thinking about how to made this baseball jersey from Los Barbudos for my friend, as a way of remembering that trip. So if something does not exist, create it! And I have learned to make these letters of fabric so retro!
TUTORIAL TIPOGRAFÍA RETRO

Un trozo de tela roja
Hilo perlé azul
Bastidor
Dedal
Tijeras
Lápiz textil
Técnica empleada: ojal a punto de cordoncillo u ojete recortado. Un tipo de bordado calado sencillo y rápido de aprender (ver ilustración de apoyo).
RETRO TYPOGRAPHY TUTORIAL

Red fabric
Blue thread
Wooden frame
Thimble
Scissors
Textile pen
Technique: buttonhole or eyelet stitch. A type of openwork embroidery quick and easy to learn (see following illustration).
1) Dibujar nuestras letras retro en el trozo de tela roja.
2) Tensar fuertemente la tela en el bastidor.
3) Con hilo azul trazar el contorno de las letras con punto adelante o pespunte.
4) Cortar el centro de las letras con tijeras o punzón.
5) Con hilo azul, bordar con punto de cordoncillo sobre el trazado.
6) Continuar cortando -en pequeños tramos- a lo largo de los bordes exteriores de las letras y bordando igual que en el paso 5.
1) Draw your retro letters on the piece of red cloth.
2) Place the fabric tightly to the wooden frame.
3) Stitch the outline of the letters with blue thread.
4) Cut the center of the letters with scissors or punch.
5) With blue thread, embroider with eyelet stitch along the hollow of each letter.
6) Continue cutting in small sections, along the outer edges of the letters and embroidery as in step 5.
Aplicación en camiseta
Una vez hechas las letras, se planchan del revés y se extiende pegamento textil con un pincel o brocha pequeña.
Coloca las letras en una camiseta bien planchada previamente y aplica calor sobre estas para que seque antes el pegamento. Después aseguralas con una serie de puntadas con hilo del mismo color de las letras.
Used on a T-Shirt
Now, you already have your own types, so iron reverse and glue with a small paint brush.
Place the letters in a previously ironed t-shirt and then applies heat to dry the glue quickly. Finally, stitch along with red thread or the color of the letters to make sure it won't take off in the washing machine.
